The BoxCast Dashboard makes it easy to set up multiple, recurring events. For example, you could set up a worship service every Sunday or a town hall meeting every Wednesday.

Schedule a recurring broadcast manually

Click Schedule in the BoxCast Dashboard, then choose Standard Scheduling.

Select Recurring Series. Choose the starting date, and time you'd like the broadcast to run for. We recommend scheduling your broadcast to end approximately 30 minutes after the planned end time, just in case things run over.

Choose the recurrence pattern. Weekly is the most common, but you can also choose monthly, or a custom weekly occurrence. For example, if you wanted the broadcast to run twice a week, you'd choose this option.

Choose how many times you'd like the broadcast to recur, then give it a name. Continue to fill out the remaining fields; if you need assistance check out our article on scheduling a broadcast. Then you're all set!

Upload a schedule for recurring broadcasts

The other option you have when scheduling multiple broadcasts ahead of time is to upload a schedule. This option is ideal if you have a more complicated broadcasting schedule and the weekly, weekly custom, or monthly options don't quite fit.

Go to Schedule in the BoxCast Dashboard, then choose Bulk Import (CSV).

Follow the instructions shown on screen:

  1. Download the Excel Template. Note that the file is customized for your BoxCast account -- do not share the template with others.

  2. Open the file in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, and locate the tab labeled Broadcasts (the other tabs are only for reference).

  3. Add one row per broadcast, leaving the header row in-tact.

    • On many fields, we have configured the spreadsheet to load supported values as a dropdown. Please use the dropdown to select the value. If the value does not match exactly, the import may be rejected.

    • Leave non-required fields blank that you do not need (for example, if you don't want a scoreboard overlay). Do not remove any columns or the import may fail.

  4. Export the "Broadcasts" tab as a CSV file (comma separated values). Leave the header row in place if given the option.

  5. Drag and drop the CSV file into the area above to complete your scheduling.

FAQs for Bulk Import

Can I use something other than Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes, but other spreadsheet software does not support the dynamic lookup feature that is built into the template, so the import may fail if field values are not typed in precisely. Please refer to the extra tabs to find proper values to use for Sources, Channels, etc.

Can I just reupload the XLSX file after editing?

No, please export as a CSV (comma separated values) file.

How many records are supported?

You may import up to 1000 records at a time.

How can I add social media broadcast destinations or a thumbnail image? I don't see it in the template.

After you upload the file, you will have the option to attach social media broadcast destinations in bulk, or to upload thumbnail images for each broadcast. These actions are not easily represented in a spreadsheet, so we have expanded the upload tool to assist.
