Larix Broadcaster is a streaming app developed specifically for use with mobile Android and iOS devices. As BoxCast's Broadcaster app is not available for Android devices, the BoxCast team typically recommends Larix Broadcaster for Android users.

NOTE: Due to the Larix free version's one-hour streaming limit, we do not recommend it for events expected to run longer than sixty minutes.

You can stream via RTMP or SRT, using the instructions below.

Creating a Larix RTMP Connection

Navigate to the Sources page in your BoxCast Dashboard, select the RTMP source you intend to use, and then copy the RTMP URL. If you haven't done so already, you can create an RTMP source in your BoxCast Dashboard.

Open Larix Broadcaster app and tap the gear button.

Tap on Connections.

Tap the '+' button in your screen's lower-right corner.

Tap Connection.

Type a name for the connection in the Name field, paste the RTMP URL from your BoxCast Dashboard into the URL field, and tap Save.

Make sure your RTMP connection is selected. Click the back arrow to return to the Settings page, and then tap the back arrow again to return to the app's camera view.

Tap the stream button to begin streaming from Larix.

A successful connection between Larix and BoxCast is indicated when the source in your BoxCast Dashboard appears as Connected. If you're ready to broadcast, simply ensure you have a broadcast scheduled in your BoxCast Dashboard.

NOTE: As with all third-party sources, BoxCast recommends placing Larix in a streaming state 5-10 minutes before your scheduled broadcast's start time. If you scheduled a broadcast to start at 10:00 AM, for example, click the stream button in Larix at around 9:50 AM.

Creating a Larix SRT Connection

Go to the Sources page of your BoxCast Dashboard, click on the SRT source you wish to broadcast with, and then copy the Stream ID. If you haven't done so already, create an SRT source in your BoxCast Dashboard.

Open Larix Broadcaster app and tap the gear button.

Tap on Connections.

Tap the '+' button in your screen's lower-right corner.

Tap Connection.

In the Name field, type a name for your connection. In the URL field, paste or type srt://srt.boxcast.com:1935.

Paste the Stream ID you copied earlier into the streamid field, and then tap Save.

Ensure your SRT connection is selected. Click the back arrow to return to the Settings page, and then tap the back arrow again to return to the app's camera view.

Tap the stream button to begin streaming from Larix.
