With BoxCast's Sharing feature, you can choose highlights from your broadcast and share them easily to social media.
Note: This product is currently in beta and has known limitations. But don't worry; we're already working on some exciting new features for the next release! We'd love to hear your feedback to make this product even better. Please feel free to share your thoughts through the BoxCast Sharing page or our online chat.
Start by clicking on the Sharing tab in the nav bar inside the Streaming Dashboard.
Create Clips
You can create a clip in one of two ways: You can create it manually, or you can let BoxCast AI select options for you. To get started, click on Create Clips in the top right corner of your screen.
Then, choose AI Assist or Manually Create.
For instructions on AI Assist, keep scrolling.
For instructions on how to Manually Create, click here.
Use AI Assist to Create Clips
Next, you'll select a past broadcast. You can choose to look through a list of all of your past broadcasts, broadcasts from a specific date, or from a range of dates. You can also use the search bar to search for a certain broadcast by title.
Choose the broadcast you'd like to pull clips from, and it will automatically generate clips for you.
Feel free to close that window, and you'll be able to see when your clips are finished generating.
From there, you can click and see what clips were generated for you. Clips are mostly generated from dialogue, so if your broadcast is mainly music or has no audio, you may receive an error or fewer clips. In these cases, we recommend manually creating your clips instead.
You can review the clips and rate them by helpfulness to make the AI better. When you choose a clip you'd like to use, click on Actions. You'll be able to choose to trim the clip or post it as-is. The trimming works just like it does when you manually create clips. If you choose to post, it'll take you to the final Sharing screen to post or download your clip.
Manually Create Clips
Select a past broadcast to pull your clips from. You can choose to look through a list of all of your past broadcasts, broadcasts from a specific date, or from a range of dates. You can also use the search bar to search for a certain broadcast by title.
You'll be able to see different details about your broadcast, such as the title, length, source, stream resolution, and number of views.
Select the broadcast, then select the portion of the broadcast you'd like to share.
Note that you can use the slider bar at the bottom to change the start and end times, or you can type them into the Clip Start and Clip End boxes right above it. You can also zoom in on the timeline to be more precise.
Name the clip by clicking on the pencil at the top of the screen.
Give the clip a moment to render, and then hit Next.
Share or Download your Clip
You can share your clip on a Facebook page that you manage or download it to send to another platform. While you wait for the video to render, you can connect your FB account (if you haven't already). If you'd like to download the clip, hit the Download Clip button below the video.
To send to Facebook, click on the toggle for the page you'd like to send the clip to.
You can then choose to add a title and description for your video. When you're finished, hit Post to Social. This clip will be sent as a post that will appear on your FB page's timeline and in your media.
You're all set! After you send the post to Facebook, there might be a brief delay before it shows up on your page. This is normal behavior. The post will also show up under Posts in the left navigation bar of the BoxCast Dashboard so you can reference or download it later.
Note: If you decide you'd like to delete a post after it's been sent to FB, you should go to your FB account and delete the video from there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I share my clips to any other destinations besides Facebook?
At this time, you can only share directly from BoxCast to Facebook, because this product is in beta. We plan to add more destinations very soon. For now, we recommend creating your clip and using the download button. Then you can upload the clip to any platform of your choice!
Can I change my broadcast to portrait mode (9:16)?
Right now, you can only create clips in 16:9 but this is a feature we hope to add very soon.
Where can I add captions?
This is another feature we hope to add to Sharing in a future release. If you're sending a video to Facebook, they usually caption it for you when it's uploaded. For other social media platforms, you can create a clip, use the download button, and add captions in a third-party app, like CapCut.
