In this article, we will show you how to adjust your gain level and headphone volume on the Spark encoder. You will be able to do this directly on the touchscreen.

Adjusting Gain Levels

Note: You are only able to do this if you are bringing in your audio via Balanced ¼” jacks or 3.5 mm stereo unbalanced line in.

Once your audio is plugged in, press on the audio block on the encoder.

This screen will show you your HDMI audio levels, Analog audio levels, and overall broadcast audio levels. You can adjust the analog audio levels by sliding the gain button to the right. You can check the volume by plugging in headphones to Spark. Once you get the audio to the desired level, press the X in the top right corner.

Adjusting the audio levels on Spark will help solve low audio inputs into the encoder. Still, we always recommend going back to the mixer and trying to increase the levels from there first.

Watch the video below to learn more about the differences between gain vs. volume. They are not the same, and this video will warn you against turning your gain to the max.

Adjusting Headphone Volume

To adjust the headphone volume, simply press the volume button on the touchscreen. You will then be able to use the slider to raise and lower the volume.
