In this article, we will show you how to adjust your gain level and headphone volume on the Spark encoder. You will be able to do this directly on the touchscreen.
Adjusting Gain + Output Levels
If you bring audio in via HDMI or SDI, you can adjust your audio output level directly on the Spark or mute the audio in the audio settings.
If you’re bringing in audio via HDMI, simply click on the Audio block, and select HDMI. Then adjust the output level as needed, right on the Spark. Mute the audio by pressing the Mute button in the top right corner.
If you bring audio in via ¼ inch or 3.5mm, you can adjust the input gain and output level. Click on the Audio block and select Analog. Adjust your Output Level or Input Gain by adjusting the slider. Mute the audio by pressing the Mute button in the top right corner.
Adjusting the audio levels on Spark will help solve low audio inputs into the encoder, but we always recommend going back to the mixer and trying to increase the levels from there first.
Watch the video below to learn more about the differences between gain vs. volume. They are not the same, and this video will warn you against turning your gain to the max.
Adjusting Headphone Volume
To adjust the headphone volume, simply press the volume button on the touchscreen. You will then be able to use the slider to raise and lower the volume.
