BoxCast gives you the ability to upload a video to the BoxCast Dashboard. This video will either be available as a past broadcast, rebroadcasted to your viewers, or it could replace a broadcast video with a better version.

While uploading videos to the BoxCast Dashboard you might encounter one of these errors below. This could be due to a variety of reasons but we will give you the best tools and methods to fix it.

"Video has not finished uploading"

If you see this message on an uploaded video, and it's taking much longer than expected to upload, the video most likely didn't upload correctly in the first place. Usually, this happens when you’ve accidentally left the upload screen before the progress indicator reports 100%. The best step is to try uploading the video again.

If the upload succeeded, you will see the message "Video is waiting to be processed" below. If you’ve gotten this far and get another error message, please try some of the tips and tricks below.

Common Errors

Invalid audio codec pcm s24le

Video failed to process: keyframe interval 27.8s exceeds maximum allowed 27s

error parsing aac config data: unsupported AOT specific config: 1

Video failed to process: invalid video Codec: mpeg4

If you see any of these messages above that means that you have the video file in the wrong format to upload to BoxCast. Below are what we require for an uploaded video.

  • Format: MP4 or MOV

  • Size limit: 50 GBs

  • Quality: 1080p at 7 Mbps

  • Video Codec: H.264 (AVC) or H.265 (HEVC), High Profile, Progressive scan (no interlacing)

  • Keyframe Interval: One keyframe at least every 2s*

  • Audio Codec: AAC, 44.1khz or 48khz

* While you can upload videos with regular keyframes between 2s-10s, we recommend 2s to ensure the best compatibility with YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Vimeo, and other RTMP destinations such as Mux. If you run into issues exporting or simulcasting an uploaded recording, you should try to use Handbrake to process your video.

Using Handbrake to Process a Video

If you believe you have all the settings correct and are still getting an error message, we recommend a third-party utility such as Handbrake to process the file to ensure that the correct settings are correct. You can download Handbrake for free.

Handbrake allows you to convert video files and change the settings on them. Take a look at this video for more instructions on how to use Handbrake.
