The broadcast replacement tool is great for making sure your broadcast is exactly as you want it. Whether you simply want to upload a locally recorded version or replace it with a post-processed video, broadcast replacement makes this easy. It even maintains all existing listings links, embeds, and analytics from the original broadcast.

To Upload a Video

Click on Past Broadcasts. Select the broadcast you'd like to replace. On the right side of the screen under Recording Controls, click Upload Replacement Video.

Drag and drop your video in the box provided. Please make sure to follow our recommend upload settings.

Note: Once a broadcast is replaced, the original file is no longer accessible or viewable.

  • Format: MP4 or MOV

  • Quality: 1080p at 7 Mbps

  • Video Codec: H.264 (AVC) or H.265 (HEVC), High Profile, Progressive scan (no interlacing)

  • Keyframe Interval: One keyframe at least every 2–10s

  • Audio Codec: AAC, 44.1khz or 48khz

The video will start uploading, and it's key that you don't close out of this tab until it's done or the video won't properly transfer from your computer to our server. Be aware, upload time is wholly dependent on your network speeds.

Once the file is on the server, we'll begin the transcoding process. Video transcoding times can vary based on a number of factors (e.g., file size, resolution, other uploads currently being processed). Generally expect a 1:2 transcode time. (It takes two hours to transcode every hour of uploaded video.)

Common Questions

What does it mean when it says the video is processing?

Video processing means that we're transcoding the video into a variety of formats so your viewers can play it back with minimal buffering.

What happens if I leave the page while my broadcast is uploading?

The broadcast won't upload. If this happens, you'll have to start the upload process over from the beginning.

Will my original video be deleted?

Yes. Once the broadcast has been replaced, the original file will be completely removed from our servers.

Do my analytics still work?

Yes. Analytics will work exactly the same and your analytics from the live broadcast will carry over.

Will this replace my broadcasts on social media as well?

No. This will only replace the broadcast on the Dashboard and BoxCast embedded player.

Can I replace an audio-only broadcast with a video?

Yes. You can replace it once the broadcast is complete.
