Similar to services like Zoom, paid Webex Meetings or Webex Events plans allow users to share their content with larger audiences via live streaming from a choice of several providers. BoxCast is one of these streaming providers.

Webex RTMP to BoxCast

To enable the connection between WebEx and BoxCast, you'll need to follow the steps below in the BoxCast Dashboard. Once these steps are complete, you'll be ready to complete the steps in Webex, outlined in this article: Live Stream Your Webex Meetings or Events.

Step 1

An RTMP source must be created in the Dashboard. Learn how to add an RTMP source. If an RTMP source already exists in the Dashboard, please proceed to Step 2.

Step 2

Schedule a broadcast in the Dashboard to coincide with the Webex meeting/event time, ensuring the RTMP source created in Step 1 is used as the broadcast's source. Learn how to schedule a broadcast.

Step 3

Looking at Webex, you'll need to enter information from the Sources tab of the BoxCast Dashboard. That information is:

  1. The name of your streaming service (BoxCast works just fine)

  2. The Target stream link, which is BoxCast's server URL (rtmp://rtmp.boxcast.com/live) and

  3. The Target stream key, which is the unique value from BoxCast that we refer to as Stream Key.

The images below depicts the Webex settings information (on the left) and the BoxCast Sources tab (on the right).

Step 4

Click the Webex Start streaming button to begin live streaming from Webex to BoxCast!

Once Webex is streaming, a successful connection with BoxCast will appear as shown (again, in the Sources tab).
