BoxCast supports high frame rate (60fps) streaming when enabled on your account. If it is not enabled for your account, reach out to our client managers at CM@boxcast.com to learn how to make it active.

High frame rate streaming requires a high powered device, such as the BoxCaster Pro, with increased CPU performance and higher bitrates. Attempting to stream at 60fps from an underpowered device is likely to result in a poor quality stream. This article provides a list of devices and system configurations that support high frame rate (up to 60fps) streaming.

BoxCaster Pro

The BoxCaster Pro supports streaming up to 60fps.

Broadcaster App for iOS

The Broadcaster App can stream up to 60fps on newer iOS devices:

  • iPhone 5 and newer
  • iPad Air and newer

OBS does not have a recommended system requirements for high frame rate. We would recommend that you have at least equivalent specifications to those listed above for Wirecast and vMix.

To set up high frame rate in OBS you want to navigate to Settings > Video > Common FPS Values. Select your desired high frame rate 48, 59.94 or 60 > Click Apply. See a step-by-step list of instructions for connecting OBS to BoxCast.

Teradek Vidiu

  • The Teradek Vidiu supports a maximum of 720p with 60fps
  • Refer to Teradek Encoded Frame Rate Settings
  • Make sure Frame Rate Setting is set to High

For other RTMP encoders, please confirm and test with the BoxCast support team.
