While your BoxCast Streaming dashboard is typically used for managing your live streams, there may be times you may find a need for uploading video to your dashboard. As one example, there were issues with a recent live broadcast and you want to upload the local recording for your online audience. Or perhaps you made a pre-recorded video and want to re-broadcast it live. The following article will guide you in how to upload such videos.
Note that uploaded broadcast media is subject to your account's storage policy. If you are uncertain about your plan's storage, you can check the Storage page of your BoxCast Streaming dashboard or learn more here.
Please review the following requirements before you begin uploading your video file. While initiating upload of a file which doesn't meet requirements may produce an immediate error, there are other instances where an error may occur during or after the transcode process.
Format: MP4, MOV, MKV
Size limit: 50GB
Quality: 1080p at 7Mbps
Video Codec: H.264/AVC (High Profile) or H.265/HEVC.
Progressive scan (no interlacing).
Keyframe Interval: One keyframe at least every 2–10s
Audio Codec: AAC, 44.1khz or 48khz
1. Click Media Uploads from your dashboard's menu. This will land you directly on the page for uploading a broadcast where you will then click the Upload Broadcast button.
2. Drag and drop your video file into the box where asked. You may also click within the box to browser for the file from your device.
Enter a Broadcast Name and then select a Broadcast Date. The broadcast date must be a date and time in the past. Imported videos appear in the Past Broadcasts section of your dashboard.
3. Click the Upload button and your video will begin uploading. File size and network upload speeds are key factors in determining how long an upload can take.
DO NOT close the upload window or allow your device to sleep, as this will terminate the upload. Moving between your dashboard and other browser tabs, however, is permitted.
4. Once your video file has uploaded, the broadcast will begin transcoding. Transcoding may take about as long as the duration of the video.
You are free to log out of your dashboard or close the window during transcode. You can even select Email me when completed to receive an email that your file is transcoded and ready.
Once transcode is complete, the video will appear as a past broadcast with the date and time you selected.
