The BoxCast Spark encoder can record directly to a microSD card as backup for your live stream. This can be critical should you encounter a loss of internet mid-broadcast.
Spark's recording function is not like a traditional video recording device. It will only begin the recording process if it is online and your scheduled broadcast goes live initially.
See the following microSD card recommendations. If you have a different microSD card, we simply recommend testing it beforehand.
SanDisk 64GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I
Note that while Spark can stream in 4K60, it cannot currently stream in 4k60 and simultaneously record.
Insert a microSD card into your Spark and an icon will appear at the top of the screen.
Tap the card icon to view your card's available space.
Spark requires a microSD to be formatted to EXFAT or ext4. If receive the following message shown below, format your card to EXFAT so it is compatible with both Mac and PC.

Once you have your micro SD card properly formatted, Spark will record to it automatically as soon as your broadcast begins.
Upon a broadcast ending, you can access your recorded file by removing your microSD card from Spark and inserting it into your computer. The files will be in MKV format.
Do not remove your microSD card from the Spark while it is broadcasting, as this may cause corruption to the recorded file.
