This guide walks you through the essential steps to set up your OTT account, connect your BoxCast live streams, organize your content, and customize your viewer experience.

Accessing the OTT Dashboard

Sign in to your OTT Dashboard. You’ll see three distinct sections.

  • Content: Manage live streams, uploaded videos, and organize them into categories.

  • Layout: Design how content appears to your viewers while they're in your OTT app.

  • Setup: Configure your BoxCast channels, monetization settings, and other general preferences.

Connect Your BoxCast Account

Follow the directions for integrating your BoxCast Streaming Dashboard with your OTT app. This will allow you to display broadcasts from your BoxCast Dashboard in your app.

Channels and Categories

If streaming with BoxCast, you may create Channels in your Streaming Dashboard for assigning your broadcasts to. Each Channel created in your BoxCast Streaming Dashboard will appear in your OTT Dashboard, ensuring that broadcasts assigned to Channels then transfer to their matching Channels in the OTT app.

Creating a Channel in the Streaming Dashboard also creates a matching Category in the OTT Dashboard, and the two are then automatically linked (the Channel will show as already assigned to the Category). If you do not use Channels to sort your content in your Streaming Dashboard, you will need to create Categories individually in the OTT Dashboard.

Create Categories Apart from Channels

Categories may be created independent of Channels, just like assigning scheduled broadcasts to a Channel in the Streaming Dashboard isn't necessary.

  • Go to Content > Categories and click the New Category button

  • Name your Category (e.g. Tests)

  • Toggle on Display as a published category (if intending to publish immediately) and then click the Save button

Upload Videos

Feature content not linked to a BoxCast Channel by uploading videos directly to the OTT dashboard.

  • Go to Content > OTT Uploads and click the New Video button

  • Name your video and Enable (if intending for it to appear as published)

  • Click the Media tab to drop in (or browse for) an mp4 file to upload, and then click the Save button to begin the upload

Create Packages

Packages are like collections. You might feature videos assigned to different Categories by school, but then you want to have a row somewhere that packages all the videos from multiple Categories into something like Women's Soccer.

  • Go to Layout > Packages and click the New Package button

  • Name the Package (e.g. Women's Soccer) and select the desired Categories

  • Toggle on Display as a published package (if intending to publish immediately) and then click the Save button

Set Up Your Home Page

Customize what your viewers see when they first arrive at the Home page of your app.

  • Go to Layout > Pages > Home and click the New Row button

  • Title the row and then choose from a number of options for where content is being pulled from, like a Category or Package for example

  • Perhaps a Package has been chosen for where content is being pulled from. Choose the desired Package.

Drag and drop rows to reorder the Home page layout as desired.

Customize the Menu Bar

Enhance navigation for your viewers by offering different pages of your app.

  • Go to Layout > Pages > Custom and click the Add Page button

  • Name the page and then populate any of the other optional details before clicking the Save button

Go Live!

When you schedule a broadcast in the BoxCast Dashboard and assign it to a connected Channel, the event will display as Upcoming on your OTT apps. Once live, it will appear with a red dot and a LIVE overlay to viewers.

You’re All Set!

By connecting your BoxCast account, organizing your content, and customizing a layout, you’ve laid the foundation for a professional and engaging OTT experience.
