The Spark HDMI encoder has very powerful fans, created to keep the device cool and functioning properly. Because of their optimized performance, they also tend to pull quite a bit of dirt from the environment and need to be cleaned regularly.

How to tell when your fan needs cleaned

You should be able to tell visually, as you'll see dirt in the air vents. The fan will also start to sound louder, as it works harder. There is no alert on the Spark itself, but if it gets to a certain point, an alert will be sent to our technicians, who will follow up with you.

Recommended cleaning method

We recommend using a toothbrush or compressed air to clean your Spark fan vents. Be extra careful not to blow the dirt into the Spark, however, as that will defeat the purpose of the vents, which are there to keep the dirt out.
