Automatically caption the language your broadcast is spoken in.
Set up your English-speaking broadcasts' captions to be translated in up to five different languages.
The term Broadcast Language used throughout this article means the language the broadcast is spoken in.

Enable Multilingual Captioning for a Broadcast
1. When scheduling your broadcast, first select your video source before scrolling down to click the Closed Captioning menu, and then toggle on Automatically Display Captions for Broadcasts (if not already enabled globally).
2. Choose the Broadcast Language. This is the language actually being spoken during your broadcast. Leaving the field blank will simply result in English captions.
3. If your chosen broadcast language is English, toggle on Multilingual Translation and choose up to five additional languages from the Caption Translations dropdown list.
Enable Multilingual Captioning at the Global Level
Enable captioning and translations at globally so that whenever broadcasts are scheduled and go live, they reflect the options you've chosen at the account level. This would come in handy if your are scheduling several broadcasts individually, or if you are bulk scheduling, so you needn't go through the process of enabling captioning and translations each broadcast at a time.
1. Go to the Preferences page from your BoxCast dashboard's Settings menu, and then click to edit the Captioning and Translation section.
2. Toggle on Always Caption Broadcasts, and choose the Default Broadcast Language. This is the language actually being spoken during your broadcast. Leaving the field blank will simply result in English captions.
3. If English is your chosen default broadcast language, toggle on Always Translate Captions and choose up to five additional languages for captioning, followed by clicking the Save Changes button.
Edit Translated Captions
In the event you find your recorded captions aren't as accurately reflected following your live broadcast, you may edit them!
Click into the desired broadcast and navigate to the Captions tab, select the language you wish to edit captions for, and then click the Edit Captions button to begin. Click the Publish Changes button when ready to save your changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How might I request new languages, or other helpful captioning and translation features?
How do I generate Multilingual Captions for my imported videos?
The Multilingual Captioning feature does not currently accommodate videos imported to your Dashboard. If your plan includes automated captioning, captions for imported videos can only be generated in English.
Are captions of my chosen languagues included when I download my video recording?
No. You may, however, download the WebVTT File (.vtt) or Text File (.txt) of each language you chose for the live broadcast.
Does the Multilingual Captioning feature work with my OTT apps?
Yes, the multilingual captions will work with your BoxCast OTT apps.
Does BoxCast support embedded CEA-608/708 metadata?
No.
